FAQ
“Green”
Questions
-What
does it mean to be “Green”?
Being “Green” means that the products you are
manufacturing, supplying, intend to sell or use, comply with
the State and Federal regulations. In addition, being Green,
also means that the chemical is harmless to Humans, Animals
and the aquatic life.
-I
heard that “Green” products are not efficient.
Is that the case?
Some “Green” products on the market today are
not very efficient. With the new regulations imposed on most
cleaners it is very difficult to manufacture “Green”
products that are efficient. The Woolsafe trade mark indicates
that our products have passed a series of stringent test for
cleaning efficiency. Our products not only work well but are
also price competitive.
-Are
your products certified Safe, “Green” and Efficient?
The Greenseal logo on our packaging indicates that our products
are “GREEN” HARMLESS to Human, Animals and the

as well as upholsteries. ORBECO Inc. is approved by Co-op
America Green Business Pledge. Green Hotel Association has
certified our Evolut-Ion Carpet Cleaner.

Questions
on VOCs and regulations
-What
are VOC’s about, and what does it mean in regards to
cleaning products?
An organic compound generally speaking, is a compounds that
contains carbon and hydrogen. Some examples of organic compound
are octane and butane. Organic compounds that evaporate easily
are called volatile organic compounds (VOCs). In addition
to contributing to ozone and smog formation, VOCs can have
a direct adverse effect on human heath. Many VOCs have been
classified as toxic and carcinogenic (cancer causing). Overexposure
to VOCs can lead to nausea, dizziness and headaches. Long
term exposure to certain VOCs have shown to cause cancer and
eventually death.
Our products have passed stringent tests for low VOC emissions
by the GreenSeal organization and comply with the latest California
Code of Regulations. Therefore, our products are safe for
Humans, Animals and the aquatic life. Before using any types
of cleaning products, always check the MSDS for VOC limits.
If the VOC limits are not specified be cautious.
-What
are the California Air Resource Board regulations about?
According to the California Air Resource Board:
“No person shall sell, supply, offer for sale, or manufacture
for sale in California any consumer products, which at the
time of sale or manufacture, contain volatile organic compounds
in excess of the limits specified in the Table of Standards.”
These regulations were initially effective January 2001 but
were activated December 31, 2004. Here are some examples of
VOC limits imposed by the Air Resource Board:
1. Glass cleaner: < 3% VOCs
2. General cleaner: < 1% VOCs (Applications: concrete,
tiles and walls)
3. Carpet cleaners: < 0.1% VOCs
-Are
your products compliant with the US and new European Regulations?
Yes. All of our products are compliant with the latest California
Code of Regulations. Our products are also compliant with
the new European regulations.
-What
are the VOC limits imposed by the Greenseal organization?
Products for Industrial and Institutional Cleaners like glass
cleaners, general cleaners and carpet cleaners in order to
be certified by GreenSeal, need to pass the GS-37 certification.
Part of the requirement for GreenSeal GS-37 Certification
is that these cleaners cannot exceed the following VOC limits:
1. Glass cleaner: < 3% VOCs
2. General cleaner: < 1% VOCs (Applications: concrete,
tiles and walls)
3. Carpet cleaners: < 0.1% VOCs
Technical cleaning issues
-Are
your products safe on my carpets?
Yes. Our products have been approved by the Woolsafe organization.
The approved Woolsafe certification indicates that our products
are safe on all types of carpets including wool, which tends
to be the most sensitive type of fiber to clean. In addition,
the Woolsafe Certification indicates that our products do
no leave residues in the carpet (will not promote re-soiling)
and that it cleans well. For more information on the Woolsafe
organization please visit their website at www.woolsafe.org
-I
would like to test your products. What exactly is the equipment
required?
With Evolut-Ion Cleaning Solution you only need a monobrush
(17 inches, between 175 & 225 revolutions per minute is
ideal), bonnets and a tank spray. For your test, you need
on average one bonnet for 1,000 sq ft. They are reusable.
A two gallon capacity garden tank spray is what our customers
usually go for. For our Evolut-Ion Carpet Cleaner a portable
or walk behind injection extraction is recommended. You can
also test this product with a truck mount and/or as a pre-spray
using a two gallon capacity garden tank spray. Our Evolut-Ion
TAB and All purpose Spotter are both ready to use. Neither
products need dilutions or machines. Only a cloth is needed
for the spotter.
-Do
you have a product that cleans old wine and coffee stains?
Yes, Evolut-Ion Spotter, Cleaning Solution, and Carpet Cleaner
will all be able to deal with those stains. However, coffee
and wine contain tannins that are very difficult to clean.
If those stains have been present for a long time or have
been treated with other chemicals, the fibers of that carpet
will eventually dye. If this occurred, little can be done
to remove that stain. We recommend re-dying the carpet with
a special dye kit.
-Does
your Evolut-Ion Spotter work on oil and soda?
Yes. Evolut-ion All Purpose Spotter works on all types of
stains (except old tannin) such as wine, coffee, ink, pet
stains, cosmetics, food, soda and oil based stains. This spotter
is also safe to use on all types of carpet including Wool.
-I
have been using Evolut-Ion Carpet Cleaner with the extraction
machine but the stain keeps coming back. What should I do?
If this type of problem occurs it may indicate one of two
problem. One, the stain you are treating has not been completely
removed and may require more than one cleaning. Two, if the
stain keeps reappearing the stain is probably permanent, indicating
the fibers of the carpet are dyed already.
-Can the Evolut-Ion Cleaning
Solution with and without the bonnet system be used on marble?
No. If Evolut-Ion Cleaning Solution is used on marble, you
will strip the marble of its wax coating and subsequently
your marble will look unfinished and dull.
-While
using Evolut-Ion Cleaning Solution with the bonnet system,
I noticed my carpet foaming, is that normal?
Foaming is an indication that the carpet has been previously
saturated with dry extract and/or soap residue left from previous
chemicals our competitors used to clean the carpet. That can
be a problem as it will shorten the life of the carpet and
strip it from its natural velvet and gloss. These residues
also promote re-soiling which can make the carpet get dirty
faster. Our Evolut-Ion Cleaning Solution, Carpet Cleaner and
All Purpose Spotter are WoolSafe approved, are non foaming
formula and leave no dry extract or soap residues in fibers.
After two or three cleaning using Evolut-Ion Cleaning Solution
and Evolut-Ion Carpet Cleaner, the foam and residue should
be lifted out by our products.
-Can
discoloring of carpet be fixed?
Discoloration (dye) of carpet fibers usually occurs when the
dye is chemically broken down. Factors such as ozone, high
alkaline or acidic products that are used on the carpet may
alter the natural dye of the fibers. Consequently, the carpet
loses its natural velvet and gloss.
-Can
I mix your odor neutralizer (Evolut-Ion TAB) with your other
cleaning products?
Yes. Evolut-Ion TAB is a ready to use odor neutralizer that
is used as a spray deodorizer in rooms and cars. Evolut-Ion
TAB can also be mixed pure with Evolut-Ion Cleaning Solution
and Evolut-Ion Carpet Cleaner. Evolut-Ion TAB is great to
use in injection extraction and bonnet machine as it purifies
the bad wet dog and mildew smell you usually get after cleaning
carpet with the extraction machine.
-How
long will it take for my carpet to dry?
With the extraction method using Evolut-Ion Carpet Cleaner,
you can expect a drying time of between 1 to 5 hours depending
on the type of carpet you are cleaning. With the bonnet using
Evolut-Ion Cleaning Solution you can expect a dry time of
5 to 10 minutes depending on the type of carpet you are cleaning.
With Evolut-Ion Spotter the drying time is 2 to 5 minutes.
-How
often should I be cleaning the carpet in my hotel?
Depending on how dirty your carpet gets we usually recommend
the carpet to be cleaned once every 3 to 6 months with the
extraction machine. Because of its fast dry time, with the
bonnet you can clean your carpet as often as needed. Our Evolut-Ion
All Purpose Spotter is also great for day to day quick spot
cleaning.
-What
type of cleaning method should I be using in my hotel?
Evolut-Ion Cleaning Solution is a great pair with the Bonnet.
Not only will you have a efficient deep cleaning done but
your carpet will also dry in 5 to10 minutes depending on the
type of carpet you have. You can also use our Evolut-Ion Carpet
Cleaner with the extraction machine in hallways and rooms.
This type of cleaning also offers a deep cleaning that leaves
no residue inside the carpet. In addition, you can also use
our Evolut-Ion All purpose Spotter for day to day stain removal
treatments.
